LANA WILLIAMS

As one of the UK's most sought after choreographers specialising in Jazz, Lana's distinctive style and historical knowledge makes her uniquely qualified in the vernacular jazz dances of the late 19th/20th century and the Jazz era.

 

Open to working on a wide range of projects in various mediums, including TV, film, stage productions, events and conceptual art pieces, Lana's work has been featured in prestigious venues and festivals, including Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Salisbury International Arts Festival and Glastonbury. Working as a Choreographer, Movement Director and Assistant Choreographer, some of Lana's work includes; BBC Strictly Come Dancing, Netflix - Bridgerton, Six Triple Eight - specialist Lindy Hop consultant, (Feature film: Tyler Perry/Debbie Allen), London Dance Manifesto Launch, BBC Dance House 1944, BBC Coal House at War, Dr Who, Anton and Erin UK tour, HSBC corporate training video, NHS National Awards Ceremony, Direct Line, Mayoral Ball - London, Orchestra of The Swan, Clash - Blackpool Tower Ballroom, Incandescence Theatre Company, Swing Sister Swing - Everyman Theatre Liverpool.

Having a distinguished professional dance career, spanning over seventeen years, she has amassed a diverse range of skills, techniques, and dance genres that are complemented by her historical knowledge of Jazz. As a performer she has worked on notable works, including; Disney - Muppets Most Wanted (feature film), Bridgerton, Dr Who, Britains Got Talent, Strictly Come Dancing, See How They Run (feature film) Searchlight Pictures, The Crown, Cuban Fury (feature film), BBC Strictly Dance Fever, The Paul O Grady Show, She's the One - Lyric Theatre, Tap Dogs - Savoy Theatre Charity Gala, Fame (Musical), Lincoln Centre NY, Ambassador of Swing -Manhattan Theatre NY,  

 

Her work as a choreographer can produce both historically accurate depictions of Jazz and Swing dance, or contemporary performance fusions of the styles. With a deep understanding of the history and evolution of dance, Lana brings a unique perspective to her work, blending traditional styles with contemporary culture to create dynamic and engaging performances, which has led her to work with leading artists and clients. 

 

One of the things that sets Lana apart as a choreographer is her approach to storytelling. With a belief that dance has the power to convey complex emotions and ideas in a way that words cannot, she strives to create performances that are both visually stunning and intellectually engaging. Wether working on large-scale productions or a more intimate piece, her work connects with the audience on a deep and meaningful level.

In addition to her work as a performer and choreographer, Lana is also passionate about teaching the next generation of dancers, believing that it is important to pass on the knowledge and skills, that she has acquired over the course of her career. Inspiring young artists to push the boundaries and explore new possibilities in the world of dance.
